Join Our Team as a Technical Lead at Epiroc!

The Technical Lead (TL) supports the installation, commissioning, and ongoing support of wireless network infrastructure for Epiroc’s mining customers. This hands-on technical role oversees field installation activities, configures 3D-P and third-party equipment, troubleshoots technical issues, and serves as a key technical point of contact throughout project execution. Working closely with customers, Project Managers, Solutions Architects, Technical Leads, and Installers, the Technical Lead helps ensure wireless network installations are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established technical requirements and 3D-P standards.

The work environment includes primarily field-based work with some office-based activities and travel to customer and mine sites. Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, heights, confined or tight spaces, underground environments, and other mining-related conditions. The employee is regularly required to lift up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally required to lift up to or in excess of 100 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required based on work activities and location. This position is considered Safety Sensitive. Responsibilities:

• Oversee and evaluate field installation activities to ensure Work Packages are completed in accordance with Solutions Architect requirements and 3D-P installation standards.
• Serve as the on-site technical point of contact for customers, installers, Solutions Architects, and third-party vendors, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting, and customer support throughout project execution.
• Configure 3D-P and third-party equipment in accordance with detailed network designs and work directly with the Solutions Architect to commission new wireless networks.
• Actively participate in installations, including material inventory and verification, installation of wiring and components, and other hands-on technical activities required to successfully complete the project.
• Train, coach, mentor, and certify customer personnel and Installers on 3D-P installation standards and standard operating practices.
• Conduct scheduled technical assessments of customer sites and maintain accurate project documentation, time records, and other required installation and deployment records.
• Assess workflows, design methodologies, and resourcing to improve project execution, minimize work cycles, and contribute to continuous improvement; communicate out-of-scope project changes and additions to the Project Manager.
• Provide technical expertise to internal teams and customers, including support for proposals, customer engagements, remote technical support, and participation in the on-call rotation as required.

Knowledge/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with wireless technology, preferably outdoor deployments, with an understanding of Radio Frequency (RF), RF and Ethernet cabling, and wireless network design.
• Familiarity with computer networking, network protocols, and operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
• Ability to read, understand, implement, and develop Statements of Work, installation guides, and technical and project documentation.
• Experience using tools and troubleshooting complex technical issues; experience with 2D modeling programs such as AutoCAD and/or Deswik is preferred.
• Cisco, Rajant, and Cambium certifications are preferred; experience within mining, oil and gas, or a related resource industry is also preferred.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build customer relationships, explain complex technical information, address customer concerns, and maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
• Self-motivated and safety-focused, with strong attention to detail and the ability to take ownership of assigned work, collaborate effectively with others, work independently when required, and see issues through to resolution.
• Ability to travel approximately 50% domestically and internationally to customer and mine sites; valid driver’s license required.

The work environment in the mining and construction industries presents unique and dynamic challenges not typically found in other professions. It includes a range of settings—from a professional office environment to rugged field conditions—often in some of the most remote, beautiful and pristine areas of the world.

For office-based work, duties are performed in a professional setting that may involve extended periods of sitting and frequent computer use, which can lead to eye strain or fatigue. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. The office environment may include minor distractions from general noise and routine activities. Salary Range: The salary for this position is between ($64,480.00) and ($70,720.00) annually, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our commitment to fair pay based on skills, experience, and market standards.
