Join Our Team as a Service Technician Field - Automation at Epiroc!

The Automation Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and functionality of Epiroc technology systems while working with safety as a top priority. Duties require electrical and mechanical knowledge as well as a good IT network understanding. Automation technicians monitor and perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs. The technician troubleshoots issues and determines if the problem is mechanical, electrical or from the computer systems controlling the process, as well as determine appropriate corrective measures.

 

The automation technician possesses excellent technical skills and represents Epiroc in a professional and ethical manner while working under very little supervision. Extensive travel to customer sites throughout Canada may be required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Service and commissioning of Epiroc products.
  • Perform audits and preventive maintenance on Epiroc products.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Document and report technical product issues.
  • Establish a good working relationship with customers.
  • Establish a good working relationship with your co-workers.
  • Creating and updating daily service reports.
  • Work with customers’ operations departments to ensure levels are set up to meet the meet their production timelines.
  • Work with customers’ mobile planning department to ensure automation preventative maintenance (PM) and repairs are conducted in conjunction with mechanical PM’s schedule.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work within and promote a supportive and innovative team culture.
  • Perform other relevant tasks and duties as assigned by the manager.

 

Knowledge/Education:

  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant work experience within the mining industry is an asset.
  • Experience in automation.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician or Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic certification is an asset.
  • Electronics or electrical engineering technician or technologist diploma.
  • Strong electronics and instrumentation knowledge.
  • Possess a valid vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Strong knowledge of Epiroc’s services and products is an asset.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven and motivated self-starter who is driven to achieve client satisfaction targets and is able to work independently and in a team environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Exchange, etc.
  • A strong understanding of network infrastructures.
  • Time management skills.
  • Strong numerical ability and reasoning skills.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel and to go on site.
  • Fluent in both English and French would be is an asset.
