Mission of the role:

 

As a CNC Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery including lathes, milling machines, and multi-axis machine centres. Your daily tasks will include loading and programming machines, setting machining parameters, and ensuring adherence to manufacturing specifications and quality standards. You will be instrumental in maintaining efficient production schedules and meeting output targets while complying with company policies and safety regulations.

 

Your mission: 

 

  • Manage time and attendance effectively while demonstrating self-discipline and compliance with company rules.
  • Use the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times to ensure safety.
  • Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and multi-axis machine centres according to production requirements.
  • Set and machine first-off pieces for new jobs, including performing clocking and reading of clock gauges accurately.
  • Continuously improve machine efficiencies and troubleshoot any operational issues.
  • Adhere strictly to quality requirements and production manufacturing specifications; proactively stop the process and raise red flags if deviations occur.
  • Maintain production schedules to ensure plant output meets company targets.
  • Follow the 5 "S" principles diligently to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Take initiative to perform additional duties as outlined in "The Way We Do Things" policy, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

 

Your Profile: 

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a CNC machining environment with a strong background in machine tool operations.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc, HAAS, and Mazatrol CNC controls is essential.
  • Basic programming skills and the ability to manually load as well as electronically upload and download CNC programs.
  • Exposure to Motoman robot programming will be advantageous.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and 5 "S" methodology.
  • Overhead crane license is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Matriculation certificate with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
  • Relevant trade qualification is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and perform mathematical calculations related to feeds and speeds for cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of threading operations and canned machining cycles.
