CNC Setter Operator

Mission of the role:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CNC Setter Operator to join our Manufacturing Support team at Epiroc in Springs, South Africa. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining production quality, and supporting our commitment to safety, environmental, health, and quality standards (QSHE). As a CNC Setter Operator, you will work onsite using advanced CNC lathes, milling machines, and multi-axis machine centres to meet and exceed daily production targets.
Your mission:
- Maintain punctuality and comply rigorously with company time and attendance policies.
- Demonstrate strong self-discipline by adhering consistently to all company rules, regulations, and QSHE standards.
- Utilize the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure personal and workplace safety.
- Operate CNC machinery including lathes, milling machines, and multi-axis centres in accordance with company manufacturing specifications.
- Set and machine the first off pieces for new jobs, conducting precise clocking and reading of clock gauges to assure accuracy and quality.
- Monitor production quality continuously; stop processes and raise red flags immediately if quality specifications are not met.
- Adhere strictly to the production schedule to ensure smooth plant operations and meet output requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine efficiencies and process effectiveness.
- Follow 5S workplace organization principles to maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with the team to support any additional duties as outlined in our operational procedures, "The Way We Do Things."
Your Profile:
- Minimum Matric certificate with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
- A relevant trade qualification will be a distinct advantage.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a CNC machining environment, familiar with machine tool operation.
- Proficient knowledge of CNC controls including Fanuc, HAAS, and Mazatrol.
- Experience in basic CNC programming and Motoman robot programming considered an advantage.
- Ability to manually load and electronically upload/download CNC programs effectively.
- Competent in reading technical drawings and performing precise mathematical calculations for feeds and speeds, threading, and canned cycles.
- Possession of an overhead crane license is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S continuous improvement methodologies.
