Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • The incumbent will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical maintenance, servicing and repairing of all manufacturing and building equipment.
  • Manufacturing of electrical and mechanical equipment/components to drawing specifications, including assembly and installation.
  • Assemble, install, troubleshoot, maintain and test electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures.
  • Design, assemble, install, troubleshoot, maintain and test hydraulic systems.
  • Assist with assembling, testing and installing components and systems during shutdown period.
  • Knowledge of maintaining milling and turning machines.
  • Knowledge of maintaining welding and cutting equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintaining overhead cranes.
  • Knowledge of maintaining pumps.
  • Knowledge of maintaining sequential furnaces will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of maintaining induction heaters will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of plc systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Ensure compliance to building codes / regulations.
  • Ensure compliance to wiring installation standards.
  • Ensuring adherence to the company routing work maintenance, inspection regimes, telemetrics and standards.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are in a safe working condition and periodically maintained as required.
  • Ensuring adherence to the company OHSA requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to the company SHEQ standards.
  • Training and development of apprentices and students.
  • Able to work at heights (ladders, scaffolds, roofs etc.)
  • Willing to work shifts, after hours (overtime) and attend to breakdowns as per operational requirements.
  • Willing to work stand-by as required.

 

Experience requirements

  • Minimum 5 years related to manufacturing and engineering industry.
  • Experience in an industrialised environment which must include electrical and fitting and turning and plant maintenance.
  • Practical hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Compressors, gearboxes, pumps and spindle assemblies.
  • Mechanical drawing knowledge.
  • Understand and be able to read electrical drawings.
  • Must have single phase and three phase knowledge
  • HT switching experience will be an advantage (6.6Kv)
  • Electronic knowledge will be advantageous.
  • PLC knowledge will be advantageous.
  • Wireman’s license will be advantageous. 

 

Knowledge

  • AC and DC knowledge, from 24vdc to 6.6KVac.
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • VSD’s
  • PLC systems.
  • Wiring code of practice.
  • VTC’s and VMC’s.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings.

 

Educational requirements

  • Qualified millwright with trade certificate.
  • Wireman’s licence will be advantageous.
  • PLC training and knowledge will be advantageous.
