Assistant Planner - RD Mine

Join Epiroc Mining India Private Ltd as an Assistant Planner at our RD Mine location in Udaipur. This role is part of the Customer Center team within the Field Service department under Corporate Units, focused on service excellence and operational efficiency in a mining environment.

About the Role

As an Assistant Planner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational maintenance activities are planned and executed efficiently to maximize equipment availability and reliability. You are responsible for the scheduling and timely booking of maintenance kits in alignment with maintenance schedules, reviewing preventive maintenance (PM) kits for a comprehensive fleet of machinery, and forecasting major component replacements based on machine utilization. Working closely with stores personnel, you will guide BPCS (Business Planning and Control System) activities, monitor deviations, and support commissioning of new equipment within the maintenance system.

On a regular basis, you will prepare and report on key metrics such as PM compliance, major component replacement compliance, consumption reports, and breakdown dashboards. Your role also involves continuous contract performance assessment to ensure delivery of service aligned with customer expectations, thereby driving asset optimization and identifying inefficiencies to elevate service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and ensure timely booking and delivery of maintenance kits to sites, supporting smooth maintenance schedules.
  • Regularly review and optimize preventive maintenance kits for equipment fleets under the HZL contract to maintain operational uptime.
  • Forecast and plan major component replacements, balancing equipment usage and lifecycle management.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to store staff on BPCS activities and manage deviations effectively.
  • Manage the commissioning process of new machines within the maintenance system, ensuring all data is accurately captured and maintained.
  • Generate and deliver detailed reports to track maintenance compliance, usage, and breakdowns for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with customers to drive asset optimization strategies, eliminating waste and improving efficiency.
  • Ensure maintenance processes leverage available tools to enhance service delivery, increase safety standards, safeguard profitability, and improve the reliability of our people and products.
  • Maintain a strong presence in product offerings, maximizing customer satisfaction and profitability through reliable service execution.
  • Transform operational data into actionable business intelligence to enhance equipment cost modeling and planning tools.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Tech degree in Mining Machinery, Mechanical, Automobile, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience with hands-on proficiency in SAP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in planning shutdowns and larger-scale projects involving resource allocation.
  • Strong understanding of parts inventory management including Min/Max guidelines and cost of goods sold (COGs) management.
  • Familiarity with contract management and customer service alignment.
  • Solid financial acumen and understanding of cost implications and costing models related to mining equipment and services.
  • Ability to develop and monitor equipment backlog regimes and understand equipment reliability and availability requirements.
  • Competent in planning safely and effectively for crews of service technicians to complete tasks within scope and schedule.
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively, leading teams and stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
