As the SHEQ Specialist, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) systems across our operations. You will ensure compliance with Western Australian and Australian legislative requirements while driving a proactive safety culture and operational excellence through strong risk management, ISO system leadership, and cross-functional collaboration with the management team.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Compliance
- Act as a key member of the Management Team, integrating SHEQ into operational decision-making
- Provide expert advice on SHEQ matters to leaders and operational teams
- Ensure compliance with Western Australian and Australian WHS legislation and company standards
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Develop, implement, and maintain SHEQ management systems and procedures
- Maintain ISO certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 55001) and drive continuous improvement
- Monitor SHEQ performance, KPIs, and sustainability targets, initiating improvement actions where required
Risk & Incident Management
- Lead risk assessments, audits, inspections, and GEMBA walks
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventative actions
- Ensure hazards, near misses and deviations are effectively managed and resolved
Culture & Stakeholder Engagement
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, training, and visible leadership
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed SHEQ into projects and operations
- Liaise with external regulators and industry bodies to ensure compliance and transparency
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Environmental Science, or related field
- Advanced Diploma WHS
- Relevant SHEQ qualifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or equivalent)
- 5+ years’ experience in a SHEQ role within an operational environment
- Strong knowledge of Western Australian and Australian WHS legislation and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in developing and managing integrated SHEQ systems
- Collaborative approach, effective across all organisational levels
