We are seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join our team. In this hands on leadership role, you'll support our service and aftermarket operations by providing guidance, overseeing work quality, and mentoring team members, all while ensuring a strong focus on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Identify and coordinate parts required for works, including handling inwards/outwards goods
  • Provide mentoring and on-the-job coaching for apprentices and technicians
  • Support daily workshop operations and assist in supervising personnel
  • Plan and lead toolbox and pre-start meetings, ensuring follow-up on actions
  • Oversee job progress and liaise with Supervisors to ensure timelines are met
  • Maintain and monitor registers and assist with reporting/documentation
  • Manage branch inventory in line with company policies and contract requirements
  • Support yard structure, layout, and general upkeep
  • Foster a team culture focused on collaboration, safety, and excellence


The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Trade-qualified Heavy Duty Diesel/Plant Mechanic
  • Drill rig experience (ideally with Schramm rigs)
  • Proven leadership ability and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Significant experience with maintenance and breakdown repair of surface or underground mining equipment
  • Advanced hydraulic fault-finding skills
  • Rig rebuild experience
  • Strong self-management and a positive, proactive attitude
  • Competent with computers and reporting systems
  • Commitment to upholding safety, environmental, and quality standards
