We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials and services that support production, aftermarket operations, and inventory management.
You will manage end-to-end purchasing activities, work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and contribute to sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and manage purchase orders in the ERP system in line with demand and procurement policies
- Monitor orders through to delivery, managing delays, backorders, and changes as required
- Liaise with suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, and lead times
- Support supplier negotiations within delegated authority
- Assist with onboarding new suppliers, including documentation and system setup
- Identify and evaluate new suppliers to support cost, quality, and supply continuity
- Support sourcing activities (RFQs, supplier comparisons, and recommendations)
- Work closely with production, planning, and engineering teams to ensure material availability
- Coordinate logistics and freight, resolving delivery issues where needed
- Maintain accurate purchasing data and support reporting on orders, supplier performance, and spend
- Contribute to continuous improvement and category management initiatives
About you
- Certificate or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong understanding of purchase order management, supplier coordination, and lead times
- Experience using ERP systems and maintaining accurate data
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- High attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
- Ability to collaborate across teams and build strong working relationships
