We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join our collaborative and high-performing HR team, supporting three business entities across Australia. This role plays a key part in driving operational outcomes by partnering with leaders, delivering practical HR solutions, and fostering a positive employee experience across a complex industrial environment.
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with operational leaders to ensure HR practices align with business priorities, support workforce effectiveness, and maintain compliance with employment legislation.
About the Role:
The Senior HR Business Partner provides end-to-end HR support to the SMT operational business units in Australia. The role partners closely with leaders to support workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and organisational effectiveness.
This hands-on position supports multiple entities and combines operational HR delivery with strategic business partnering responsibilities within a dynamic, industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering
- Act as the primary HR partner for assigned business units, supporting leaders in aligning people strategies with operational goals.
- Provide practical advice and coaching to managers on performance management, employee relations, and leadership effectiveness.
- Support organisational design, workforce planning, and succession planning activities.
Employee Relations and Compliance
- Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary processes, and performance concerns.
- Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Provide guidance on workplace policies and procedures.
Operational HR Delivery
- Support the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, performance cycles, and offboarding
- Monitor and interpret HR metrics to identify trends and support decision-making.
- Partner with operational and technical leaders in field-based or production environments.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of HR processes and practices.
Projects and Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to Global and Regional HR initiatives and projects.
- Support initiatives that strengthen engagement, capability, and retention.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and service delivery
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in an HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist role, ideally within mining, manufacturing, engineering, or similar operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, modern awards, and industrial relations.
- Proven experience managing employee relations matters and advising leaders.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
- Practical, solutions-focused approach to HR challenges.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
